Fishing in Puerto Vallarta Mexico November 28 ,2010

The water has been cooling down ( 75 deg. ) but the fishing has been heating up here in Puerto Vallarta as of the week of November 20 th. This is one of the best times to be here for sailfish. Both tournaments were a big success although the November 11-13 sailfish/marlin tournament had fewer boats this year. I spoke with David of the club the pesca and explained that they need to get the promotion and fishing dates out earlier for next year. Over the last week the sailfish have been tearing the water up around Lo de Marcos to Sayulita. Around the islands jacks, Spanish mackerel, snapper, and pargos have been schooling. Anyone with diamond jigs, sardines or live bait could catch a limit in no time. Corbentena is still rocking producing marlin, mahi mahi , wahoo and sails. The tuna action has slowed at banco as there were some tuna boats out there last week, but we found them 5 miles past the corbetena. Best bet up north for sailfish or outside the bay for tuna, pargos , mahi mahi and Spanish mackerel.

The best baits have been trolling mullet, diamond jigs, sardines, Google eye lures and live baits for banco.

Fishing in Puerto Vallarta Mexico November 22 ,2010

We have 3 rd annual mahi mahi ,sailfish tournament coming up November 6, 2010. This is a warm up tournament for the big one this November 10-13 2010. I have all girls team this year and it should be fun. The last few days we have been catching sailfish, mahi mahi, snapper,Spanish mackerel, and lot of blue/striped marlin The weather has been perfect, 76-80 during the day. The water conditions as well The water temp has dropped and is now hanging around the upper 70’s. Inside the bay has produced a lot of fish but the best bet has been outside the bay 5 miles offshore. El Morro has been good for bottom fishing as well as the corbentena. The hot spot has been about 5 miles north of the corbentena. El banco is still going strong with tuna and marlin as well. The blue water is only 5 - 7 miles outside the bay.
Just before El Banco around 6 miles the tuna action has been hot as well, tunas in 30-80 lbs range.
The best baits have been trolling mullet, google eye lures and live baits for banco.
lot of sailfish now up north
