Hot Puerto Vallarta fishing december 12, 2010

The fishing has been great most days here in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta. The water temp has been around 75 deg. with the warmer spots producing tunas.
The hot spots have been close to El Banco, corbetena and just around islands off Punta Mita. The roosterfish and snapper have been schooling there most days. The roosterfish are huge and snapper or pargos as we call them are up to 50-60 lbs. The sailfish have moved and are hanging just outside of Lo de Marcos feeding on sardines. The sardines seem to be everywhere and this is holding all kinds of fish inshore and offshore The weather has been perfect here in Vallarta 60 deg at night and around 80 deg during the day. The sea have been almost flat with winds in the 10 knot range.
There also have been no shortage of whales here for our clients to see during our fishing trips.

Fishing in Puerto Vallarta Mexico November 28 ,2010

The water has been cooling down ( 75 deg. ) but the fishing has been heating up here in Puerto Vallarta as of the week of November 20 th. This is one of the best times to be here for sailfish. Both tournaments were a big success although the November 11-13 sailfish/marlin tournament had fewer boats this year. I spoke with David of the club the pesca and explained that they need to get the promotion and fishing dates out earlier for next year. Over the last week the sailfish have been tearing the water up around Lo de Marcos to Sayulita. Around the islands jacks, Spanish mackerel, snapper, and pargos have been schooling. Anyone with diamond jigs, sardines or live bait could catch a limit in no time. Corbentena is still rocking producing marlin, mahi mahi , wahoo and sails. The tuna action has slowed at banco as there were some tuna boats out there last week, but we found them 5 miles past the corbetena. Best bet up north for sailfish or outside the bay for tuna, pargos , mahi mahi and Spanish mackerel.

The best baits have been trolling mullet, diamond jigs, sardines, Google eye lures and live baits for banco.

Fishing in Puerto Vallarta Mexico November 22 ,2010

We have 3 rd annual mahi mahi ,sailfish tournament coming up November 6, 2010. This is a warm up tournament for the big one this November 10-13 2010. I have all girls team this year and it should be fun. The last few days we have been catching sailfish, mahi mahi, snapper,Spanish mackerel, and lot of blue/striped marlin The weather has been perfect, 76-80 during the day. The water conditions as well The water temp has dropped and is now hanging around the upper 70’s. Inside the bay has produced a lot of fish but the best bet has been outside the bay 5 miles offshore. El Morro has been good for bottom fishing as well as the corbentena. The hot spot has been about 5 miles north of the corbentena. El banco is still going strong with tuna and marlin as well. The blue water is only 5 - 7 miles outside the bay.
Just before El Banco around 6 miles the tuna action has been hot as well, tunas in 30-80 lbs range.
The best baits have been trolling mullet, google eye lures and live baits for banco.
lot of sailfish now up north

Puerto Vallarta fishing september 5,2010

July was a great month for fishing here in Puerto Vallarta but August will be even better.. We are still catching lot of sailfish, mahi mahi, bonita and marlin. The sardines are showing up everywhere and the fishing has been super hot. Some days we getting several marlin in one day along with mahi mahi. The sardines are everywhere and that means we can hook up some days 4 to 6 sails a day. The stripped marlin have been showing up as well but very few now that the water is warming but this means that the big blue and black marlin are here on longer trips . There has been a few caught inside the bay. There is also a lot of bonita and other small fish that are holding the big ones around the morro and corbetena. The water temp is about 83 deg. now . along with huge schools of sardines show up in and outside of the bay. The fish are moving in closer. it will be wide open here for all big game fish and small game on the shorter trips.. As of now we are catching sails, tuna , snapper, mahi-mahi and some of black/blue marlin. There are lots of yellowtail around 20-30 lbs. . On some days they have been schooling offshore at some of our better spots for fishing. Fishing in Nuevo Vallarta has been hot as well !!
